First of all. DO NOT use the computer with the lost file(s), and do not install any software on your hard disk. You may find some undelete software on the internet. But success is very much depends on that no other program has written to the sectors used by your missing files. Also have you searched for files changed the day you lost your file(s)? It could have been saved with wrong name. Sorry to say it but your problem is self-inflicted. No previous versions or backup is not a good idea. All digital storage medium will sooner or later fail, and expect it to be sooner. That is my rule of thumb
Good luck!

I have never seen Save As for a new name delete the original file.
It is a bad idea to use the Save As menu to save a backup to a new location. Why? If you have multiple files open, you run the risk of cross linking your files between the backup location and your working location. The best way to backup your work is to close down and save all your files. Then copy your entire project directory to a new location using Explorer.
If you need to get your work back from the backup location, they should be uncorrupted files. Close all your files and copy back whichever ones need to be replaced.
