Signal Event for NI Scope 5922

Is there a way to generate a signal event using the NI-Scope VIs for the PXI 5922.  I know this is a little overkill, but I need to use an external trigger captured with the 5922 to execute a case in an event structure.  Is there an easier way to do this?  Possibly using RS232 or some other input.  I have been trying to convert the Gen Event for Ext Signal.vi example to suit my needs, but cannot seem to get it to work.

It seems like you are trying to use an external line.  Which pin have you wired this external line to?  Could you please tell me a little more about the actual application?  Do you need to be using a Case Structure?  When you say you cannot get the Gen Event for Ext Signal to work, does it throw you some kind of error, or does it not give you the correct output?
