TDS oscilloscope

Hi

I am using the TDS oscilloscope,Just using the LabVIEW program to download the waveform from the scope.

Now i am interested to know little bit more, for example if we are measuring a Peak-Peak value,how could we read it in the labVIEW program.

1. Are you using VIs provided by Tektronix, or writing your own? 

2. Are you looking to get the measurement value calculated by the 'scope, or calculate it for yourself?

I have developed a code,its function is to acquire the signal from the oscilloscope and display the Peak to peak value.Everything works fine.But in that i need to include a start  button,means when start is pressed it should start analysing the signal in the scope and give the value,then after sometime may be 10 seconds the program should stop.pls help with this
