Trying to use Express Formula and get: (error) ExpressFormulaBlockNode.xnode; Governing Library is Broken

I'm a new user, and am working my way through the 8.5 Getting Started Booklet. When I try to utilize the Express Formula VI, it leaves an unfilled square on the block diagram and tells me the governing library is broken. Any thoughts or prior experiences? I'm using LV 8.5 Basic edition on Windows XP SP2.

Thanks.

Hi rangecheck,

This was reported to R&D (# 4EFEMMWB) for further investigation. A possible workaround is, in the Functions Palette select Select a VI... and choose the function found at: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.5\vi.lib\express\express arith-compare\FormulaBlock.llb\Ex_Inst_Formula.vi

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll give it a try and let you know. Might be a few days before I get to it now! I appreciate your help.

Good afternoon -

I have also run into this same thing, except no message about a governing library. I'm running the same version of labview and OS as the original poster. The workaround does the trick, but is there any update on why this might be happening?

Regards,

- Chris

The workaround is posted above is the only one there is for that problem. This issue has been fixed in LabVIEW 8.5.1 and above. Other things you can do is either upgrade the version of LabVIEW, or the package that you have. This issue only happens in LabVIEW 8.5 Base Development Package.
