Unable to install LabView: Unable to load MIFSystemUtility DLL. The specified module could not be found

Hello Everyone,

This has been a headache!!!!!

I was having issues with LabView NXG. It was crashing as soon as I tried to open it. So I did as per NI advice here:

https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z0000019REWSA2&l=en-US

But when I try to reinstall, as advised by the link, I got the error Unable to Load MIFSystemUtility.DLL When Installing Via NI Package Manager - NI

I tried to delete the MIFSystemUtility key but I still got the same results. The same error was popping. What can I do here to reinstall LabView?

I just want to reinstall LabView NXG back

hi ,

i feel with you, NXG is a master tool to get headache 🤯 ! Do you have a currently valid license? If so, just download the "offline" installation package of NXG.

1. open your system temp folder and clean it

2. after Removing all NI software and temp files install the offline NXG package.

2.1 this will result in installing a package manager

3. After you have installed the software, you can also update the package manager again.

4. it could be helpful to clean all .cache folders in your projects !

I've been using NXG for 3 years now and there have been many occasions to repair or reinstall NXG. It's a pity that NI didn't focus on stability instead of functions!

i hope this will help you too..

regards

Be careful with Step 2, Removing all NI software and temp files.  Do not "force-remove" (meaning doing anything with the Registry, or deleting files or folders yourself) any NI Files or Folders -- let NIPM and/or Control Panel do this for you.

I don't have experience removing NXG, but removing LabVIEW safely (the only way to do this, I believe), has three steps:

  1. Open Control Panel.  Go to Programs and Features.  Find National Instruments Software (or words to that effect).  Click (which will probably bring up NIPM) and select All, then Remove.  Note that NIPM, itself, will not be selected.  Let it remove stuff.  Be sure you've selected everything (I forgot what the buttons are, but theres one that shows only a sub-set).  Reboot.
  2. Open Control Panel.  With luck, you won't see "National Instruments Software", but only NI Package Manager".  If not, go repeat Step 1.  If so, choose NI Package Manager.  You should get a warning about removing it (you must remove everything else first).  Let it remove itself.  Reboot.
  3. Open Control Panel.  With "regular LabVIEW", you may (again) see "National Instruments Software".  There may be several hundred entries that you still can remove.  Remove everything.  Reboot.

If you are brave (or foolhardy), you can delete the National Instruments folders in Program Files, Program Files (x86), and in Program Data.  I recommend copying them somewhere first, just in case.

DO NOT TOUCH THE REGISTRY.  It took me two tries to learn this lesson (I reinstalled Windows 10 on two of my PCs ...).
