I want to send the status of a machine through sms so the mobile phone would be attached to my PC and therefore the idea came to utilize it's blutooth too.

The data is a signal that would be send to the other pc.

Hi,

I think that you are in a wrong way with bluetooth.

1) Be sure that you really need to use cellular phone network (a dsl connection isn't available ?)

2) If you really need to send datas with phone network, seek on Labview forum how to receive sms. ex : http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/read-sms-problem/m-p/1126728

There are PCMCIA cards to make ling between PC and 3G.

Some Clarification

The sms would be send to other person mobile while the bluetooth would be used to transfer the current data to the other PC.

Do you think that using internet inplace of bluetooth would be more helpful as the distance of communication is increased using the net.

You also can buy a USB-GSMmodem and connect it directly to your PC, in that way you can use it to receive the SMS by PC. In that way you can control your modem directly with Labview and with your application. The USB-GSM modem are not expensive. You find a lot of model in commerce.

yes you are correct but it will only solve the part of sending sms.

What about sending the data directly to the other side.

To comunicate between some PCs you can use a Wirless network or a Wired LAN, actually  an access-point wireless is chepper than build a wired lan, you can use one PC (where you have connected the modem) as server that receives the SMS and sends the data to the others PC... how much is the distance of the PC? How is the structure (building) where they have to comunicate eachother? This are the asnwer you have to wondering to do the choise.

1- The sms will be send to any mobile phone.

2- The signals that are generated on different machines would be send to one system. Take it as a central monitoring system, in which we gather the data of many machines on one PC.
