Variations of LabVIEW

What is the difference between the variation of LabVIEW with the black/gold color scheme and the variation with the white/orange color scheme.  I'm beginning to suspect that when a computer has a white/orange LabVIEW installed that it creates compile problems (even for the black/gold variations.

It comes down to a new corporate identity for NI since 2020. And that comes with an all important color theme change. It loosely corresponds to the new ni green logo change that also introduced the "Engineer Ambitiously" marketing scream.

It may coincident with some low level changes in compilers but I doubt that it is really that.

But it doesn't seem to follow the version. On some systems it's black/gold, on others it's white/orange; regardless of version.  Both those screenshots are of LV2020, just on different computers.

Is one of them 2020 SP1?

Not sure about the orange icons, they should be yellow.

You also have these pink menu bars. Is it possible that you have some odd windows color scheme selected?

in 2018 SP1 the icon doesn't match the launch screen colour... (on my PC at least)
but I seem to recall once being told that the colour difference was intended to simply be a quick differential to allow you to tell if you were looking at 32 or 63 bit version with 32bit being white and 64bit being black.
I've only got 64bit now and they all launch black, I used ot only have 32 bit a few years ago and it always launched white at my previous company.

Anyone able to confirm / deny my theory?

Because I use different versions of LV for different projects, I set the menubar colors differently so it's always obvious to me which version of LV is open (pink for LV 2020).

If you're having issues with the compiler colliding, then it's time to switch LabVIEW to a Virtual Machine which works until you need to install the Vision Module at which point you can't get the license to activate on a VM.
SCC and a multiple VMs for different projects can be a PITA to setup but can save you in the long run when it comes to supporting different projects.

Black/gold is 20.0f1 (32-bit).  White/orange is 20.0.1 (32-bit)

Here is how 20.0.1 looks on my machine with default window appearances:

Notice the icons are different in the title bar but not on the splash screen. The icons on the taskbar match the title bar icons.

Yup. The color scheme was changed between LabVIEW 2020 and LabVIEW 2020 SP1.
