Will LabVIEW 8.0 Break my 7.1 and TestStand 3.1 Install ?

Hi all

I have a PC with LabVIEW 7.1 and TestStand 3.1 running quite happily , I now need the ability to open a LabVIEW 8.0 project on the same machine. I noticed from the upgrade notes that LabVIEW 8.0 only works with TestStand 3.5 (Not yet released) , I don't want to use 8.0 with TS , but I do want it on this machine if I can get it.

Will installing 8.0 break my TestStand install ?

Cheers
Chris

I haven't been able to purchase LabVIEW 8 yet but I did have the beta version installed and it did not affect TestStand or my older version of LabVIEW. You just have to make sure that when you want to open or create a VI from TestStand that the last version of LabVIEW you had run is 7.1. I'm curious though, about the requirement of TestStand 3.5 for LabVIEW 8. What exactly do the release notes say? I went to the NI Technical Symposioum yesterday and they had TestStand 3.1 running with LabVIEW 8. TestStand 3.5 is now released and it mentions support for the LabVIEW 8 project but I wonder if older versions ot TestStand work with LabVIEW 8 VIs.

Dennis

Page 4 of the LabVIEW 8.0 Release Notes states that "You must use NI TestStand 3.5 or later in LabVIEW 8.0, Refer to the NI Website aat NI.com/Info and enter the code exd8yy to access the upgrade advisor etc etc"

I will give 8.0 a try and see if TS still works over the weekend

Cheers

Chris
