best chair

Hello All,

Another wide open question, can anyone recommend a good quality chair to purchase for me to sit in while doing hours of wire-working?

I am going to be working from home, and am trying to perfect my home setup. I have never had to "spec" a chair before, so this is a bit new to me. I imagine you very much get what you pay for, but have seen some prices of ergonomic chairs (With headrests) going for nearly $1000 !!!!  Smiley Surprised

Any recommendations?

Going to stores and sitting in chairs is probably the best way to figure out which one is best for you. Different people will have different chairs that they prefer, although I think everyone would prefer the chair linked to in the last post Smiley Very Happy

It is actually a pretty serious topic. I almost lost my wife this year from a blood clot that moved from her calf, thru the heart and into her lungs. Google the web for reports on sitting at a pc for extended periods of time.

You are right. This is the first time I've gotten silly here. I apologize I am tired and it just made me laugh like crazy when I saw the pics. But, I agree, this is the wrong venue for such silliness. I will take this more seriously, .

I am so sorry that I started with a joke..........

Serious, good chairs are very expensive. Pices upto €1000,- are pretty normal, if the chairs are worth it ??

30 years back we did our job on a wooden chair. Moving up the ladder the chairs became softer. The new ergonomic chairs came in about 15 years ago and I must say it was a big improvement.

When you'r young the wooden chair should be no problem but as you get older you should not cutback for the chair where you spend many (wiring) hours a day. After all it is your health. When you 70 or 80 you still want to show people what you wired all these years. Smiley Wink

Jeff,

the trouble is, where I live there are not really any shops which sell proper chairs, mostly cheap rubbish back-ruining chairs.

I may have to resort to buying a chair online, which is like buying a bed or sofa online, very difficult!!! Thats why I asked if anyone had any good recommendations. I will happily spend the money for a goodf chair, but don't want to be ripped off paying £$£$£ for a "name-brand" chair which is not worth it.
