I tried it in LabVIEW 2011 and 2012, and it does not crash in those versions, but it reliably crashes in 2013.  I reported this to R&D in CAR 424308.

Hi ouadji,

We are already aware of this CAR (there is another CAR # for it 408955). The crash occurs when you are not using the autotool and you edit comments. For the moment the workaround is to use the auto tool for editing comments, we are investigating the crash. The crash only occurs in LabVIEW 2013.

Thank you for reporting it,

Some observations:

With VIs created with LV12.0f3 then opened and saved in LV13.0, the crash does not occur. I've tried this with ~20 VIs.

If a text box is created as a bookmark in LV 13.0, the crash rarely occurs. However there is strange behaviour in that you have to click in the text box twice to be able to edit it.

As an alternative workaround, since I too dislike autotool, I'll create VIs from all my templates in LV12 so I can easily make a copy and open it in LV13.

Using Win XP 32bit

+1 ... After the first click, the cursor is like "frozen" in the text box. (LV2013)

The cursor is no longer in the text box, but inside the box there remains a "frozen" cursor

Yes, having to use the auto tool may mean no LV2013 for me until it is fixed.  It drives me crazy.
