diagram/front panel windows disappear

Hi, I am running LV6.1 on Windows XP. When I have a few windows open with front panel and corresponding diagrams, some of those windows disappear after being minimized or put in the background. When I try to restore the window, only the function- and tool palettes get focus.
This is very annoying! please help

Yes this seems to be a common problem..... There's two big situations when
the windows will disappear:

1. If you have an instant messenger window open (Yahoo or AOL) then alt-tab
back to Labview. The window will disappear. Of course it's all business
related chatting while I'm programming.....

2. If you switch to a minimized or background window like you mention. The
window will disappear.

Right click on the item in the taskbar and select Maximize. That'll screw up
the size of the window by maximizing, but at least you can save and exit.

It's very annoying but happens to me on every Windows XP machine I use.
Hopefully it'll be fixed in the next release of Labview.

Odd - I'm using LabVIEW 5.1.1, 6.0.2, and 6.1 with WinXP on a Dell laptop, and have never seen this problem - maybe it's not a LabVIEW issue?

How do you have the VI windows configured?

Also are there any embedded DLL's, CIN's or Active X call's in these
VI's which are acting up?

Boy am I glad to see this thread! I thought maybe it was just me. It only appears after XP has gone into that neat mode where it stacks all of a program's windows under a single button--by the way, 6.0 does it too...

I don't quite understand what you mean with:
> "How do you have the VI windows configured?"

I don't have any explicit calls to DLL's,CIN's or Active X in these vi's, at least not of my knowledge.

Me neither.... I rarely run the VI, this happens mostly during editing for
me.

I'm using lv6i on XP. I've similar problem. Some minimized Vi can't be
restored. You can it on the window taskbar, but can't restore the vi.
It can only be maximized.

You can configure your VI's to display the tool bar, the stop button,
the multiple run button, scroll bars, to be centered, resizable, etc.
(or not) over in the upper left hand corner of the front panel where
you also edit the displayed icon. I believe that you right mouse on
the icon to bring this up.

I was wondering about DLL's etc. because sometimes these can cause
wierd LV behaviour if they themselves have a problem.
