display vi reference number as integer value

hi all,

   I'm trying to create a "Watch" vi to use for debugging a problem i'm having with Vi reference numbers.   When i create a probe for a refnum on the block diagram, it displays an integer value that you can understand.  When i try to create an indicator to display the same refnum on the Front panel it shows up as the square checkered refnum icon.

  Is there a menu selection i'm missing to make it display like the probe and not as an icon?

Use the Type Cast primitive to convert the reference to a U32.
