To quote someone's Smiley Wink signature:

"the program is absolutely right
it must be the computer that is wrong"

Do you have connection to the Internet?  If yes, check the firewall settings and make sure NIExampleFinder.exe is not blocked.

On my WinXP system the example finder is located at:

   C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\Example Finder\1.0\BIN\NIExampleFinder.exe

Can you find yours in a similar location on your Mac?

Can you shutdown LabVIEW and then see if you can start the NIExampleFinder from where ever you found it?

I can make a copy of NIExampleFinder.EXE and rename it as NIExampleFinder.LLB and then open the LLB to see the VIs that make it up including the top-level "Find Examples.vi".  Can you do that? Is the run arrow broken? If the run arrow is broken, what is the reason given?

when i try to change it to ".llb" it attomaticly add a ".app". and when i doble click on it it oppens fine but the only files it lists are about ten files in a foulder called "most recent" that i looked at a wile ago. i also checked the folder that the examples are in and they are in there

I cannot help you with the Mac issues. I jumped that ship back during System 7.

When you say "Can anybody tell me why the example finder does not work",  what do you mean by "does not work"?
Does it open up broken?
Or does it run but just not have any examples showing?

Some time ago I tried the beta test of LV v8.0 and, in my case, that broke my v7.1.1 example finder such that it ran properly but didn't show any examples. At that time I searched this forum and discovered that the "NI Service Locator" needed to be running for the example finder to find examples. Something about the install of v8.0b broke my service locator. Do you have an equivalent "NI Service Locator" process on your Mac and is it running?

FWIW, in my case I managed to solve this one by going to a similar WinXP machine running the same version of LabVIEW and copying the niSvcLoc.exe & niSvcLoc.dll (which I discovered was also missing after studying the system registry) files from that machine and dropping them into the System32 directory of this machine.

Mine works under LV8 but not under 7.1.1 on OS X 10.4.4. When I try it on 7.1.1 I get a status window for <1 second which (may) say something about launching the Example Finder - it goes away too quickly to read. I don't recall that it ever worked.

I found it. LabVIEW 7.1 >> Help >> _exfinder.llb.

When I open it from LV it shows a little window which says "Launching the NI Example Finder..." then the window closes and that is all. That library has two VIs, the Example Finder Launcher.vi and get NI shared path folder.vi. The get shared path VI runs without error and points to Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:National Instruments. When I navigate to there from LV7.1 and try to open anything in AppContents.llb, I get "LV load error code 3: Could not load front panel".
