fpga compilation error_LV 2010SP1, Win7, Xilinx 10.1

Hello All

yesterday, we installed NI LabVIEW 2010SP1 Professional Development System in EVALUATION, including FPGA, on a PC with Windows 7 OS.  the NI software was installed in the path C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\..

The FPGA target shows Xilinx version 10.1 in the proeprties page. The PC is connected to a PXI Chassis 1042Q and has PXI 7811R FPGA device inserted. We have initially connected this same hardware setup to a PC with Windows XP and the same LV software setup (but licensed. not evaluation) and developed projects for over two years. One such project which was developed on Windows XP OS is now being tested on the PC with Win7.

so, we have the bit files, compilation build specification etc for the project. Since the first time we ran the FPGA VI on the Win7 PC, the compilation window pops up, shows 'Transferring files' message, then goes to 'Waiting in queue'. After few seconds, it goes to 'Starting compilation' and then back to 'waiting in queue'.. then the cycle continues.. Starting, waiting, starting...

i checked the forums and found two links which i referred to..

http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/fpga-compile-does-not-start/m-p/1568142/highlight/true#M575914

http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371599F-01/lvfpgahelp/compiling_fpga_vis_howto/

i checked the registry entry for FIPSAlgorithmPolicy and found it to be already set to Value 0.  i ensured that i erased the existing bit files, then started a new compilation but still face the issue.

now, i am not sure what else i should try. Someone please guide me.

also, i have my doubts about using LV in evaluation!!

well.. there is one more thing i forgot to mention.

the PC has Windows 7 64-bit OS. And i believe that LabVIEW 2010SP1 which i have could be for 32-bit system.

Hi, Freelance_LV!

Have you tried to run FPGA Compile worker manually, and run it as Administrator, after compilation window pops up?

Hi

thank you for the response.

i have not tried to run Compile worker manually, as i am not sure what it is. the only way i compiled till date is by running the FPGA vi and wait for the compilation to finish.

also, i do not have the admin rights on the PC. so, if being an admin is vital, i will have to get that arranged for..

meanwhile, i am actually trying to get the code compiled on a PC with Windows XP and licensed LV environment, and then shift the bit files to the PC with Win7.. it will take sometime before i can see its results..

Ok, i see now. So, you can also compile your FPGA VI on WIN 7 PC. Sometimes in WIN 7 you'll meet the known issue - FPGA compile worker doesn't start. To start it manually go Start->All programs - > National Instruments - > FPGA - >FPGA compile worker. It should help to avoid compile window retarting compilation.

well..

i tried opening the FPGA compileworker from Start-> all Programs.... and then ran my FPGA vi.

then, the same thing happened again.. it shows the files being transferred and got back to Waiting in Queue, Starting compilation, Waiting in Queue....

i seriously doubt if the Evaluation version is not allowing me to compile the code...

oh.. there is one more thing left to be tried.. to compile as an Admin..i shall try to get the admin rights and then compile it.. to see if it makes a difference.. thanks again

Hi,

Please do not compile the FPGA with the evalution. Try compiling the same with activated ver..

oh i am back again!!

i have been reading a lot about Windows 7, FPGA, Xilinx on the forums since morning.. and all that i read is making me confused...

there are somre more details which i noted about the problem:

1. i successfully connected to a cRIO 9074 the day before, and compiled the code and performed a successful data acquisisiton from NI 920.

2. when i run the FPGA code (first time after logging on to the PC), the compile worker does not show in the task bar... if i make some changes to the code and then save it and then compile it, the compile worker shows up...

3. when i manually open the compile worker from Start Menu, it runs well with the following status messages:

when i do not run FPGA vi... it shows Status: Connected to Server, Jobs: Registered Capabilites: Xilinx 10.1, Xilinx 11.5

when i run the FPGA vi.. it shows Status: Connected to Server, Jobs: Started work on job Xilinx 10.1(when waiting in queue). or shows: The session is no longer connected to the compile server (when Starting compilation).

we checked that the firewall is deactivated, we cannot touch anti virus as we do not have access.

as mentioned, the register key for FIPS is already having Enabled=0.
