getting in/outport.vi to work on winxp

Hi,
It says capability not found. Setting compatibility to win95/me, the program seems to work but i dont recieve output at the port. I did download the hwaccess and run the setup but no luck! nemore things that i can try to get inport/outport.vi to work. I am using labview 6 running on WinXp

as far as i know XP will not allow you to access to the hw directly,
can you use activex instead?

I also believe that you can not do this on XP. Actually, I do not think that this was available on NT or 2000 either. Only in the 9x/ME series.
