newbie datasocket and DAQ controling

Hello,

I am a student and newbie to the labview. i am taking measurements from the USB-6009 and i can view them from another pc. I did that with the simple "Web publishing tool".

Now i have to do the same with the Datasocket and Share Variable. Share variable i think is difficult , so i will start with the datasocket. I saw some examples only with TCP servers etc.. is there any easier example to send data into a numeric indicator in another pc (with datasocket).

Thnk you 🙂

There are a lot of datasocket examples. Go to the search tab of the example finder and type datasocket into the keyword field. The simplest to use are probably the Front Panel Datasocket Write and Read.

i made a simple example with a knob and a indicator in dstp protocol. i use only a Datasocket read and a datasocket write.
what else i need to make a connection through the network?
Also when i am tryin to send values from the DAQ the program crashes,  why?

Hi,

Make sure the DataSocket Server is running before running your vi. You can set your server by giong to Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> DataSocket >> DataSocketServer. I suggest you try running the Front Panel DataSocket Read.vi and Write.vi from the example finder and see if you can get it to work. If you need to set up the Datasocket connect simply right-click the waveform chart >> properties >> scroll to the right and define the path in the Data Binding section. Just make sure to define the proper IP address in the Read.vi to be able to read from the Write.vi.

Can you elaborate on your program crashing when sending values from your DAQ device? What kind of errors do you get? Is there an error code? What DAQ board do you have? It would be much appreciated if you include as much detail as possible regarding this crash.

Thank you

Regards,

Best Regards,
