I've run LabVIEW 6, 6.1 and 7 on Win 98, NT, 2K and XP.
As far as I can remember, the only combination where I've seen it occur is LabVIEW 6.0.2 on Win2K and 98. In all cases when it happens, I always install under my user ID which has admin privileges (at least on the 2K machine), so Im not sure what causes it. Since 98 doesnt have the different levels of user privileges, I guess thats probably not what is causing this particular problem. I didnt think of that last night.
The install dialog that opens is looking for the runtime engine installer, so thats what lead me to try uninstalling that to fix the problem.
