real time help and install

hi there,

i am a uni student, just installed the labview real time module 8.6 on the host computer, now when i open the project explorer in labview 2009, i am supposed to go to new and add target computer, i somehow can't, i have reinstalled the module with the other stuff many times, rebooted the target comp still nothing.

any help is much appreciated

You will need to install LabVIEW Real Time 2009 for it to work with LabVIEW 2009. Or, install LabVIEW 8.6 for it to work with LabVIEW Real Time 8.6. Basically, the version number needs to be the same for the modules to work.

on the school computers, there is 2009, the cd says real time module 9.0, i used the dev suite and it installed 8.6 for some odd reason (i have installed it many times still give my 8.6 not 9.0), my target is a intel celeron, is it because of that, it some how senses that it can't do 9 when the intel celeron can do 8.0+?

any more suggestions?

Have you tried exploring the CD to figure out what contents it actually has? Is it a NI print that says 9.0? Maybe it's a good time to talk to your admin who manages the software?

i have explored many potential items that could contribute to the real time, still nothing, other possible solutions? our admin at school might not know how to help anyways

Hi, could you go into Measurement and Automation Explorer (which is in the Start Menu>>Programs>>National Instruments) and look under the software tab to determine exatly which versions you have installed?  The LabVIEW Real-Time Module will be nested under your LabVIEW 2009 install if you have the 2009 version which is again nested under the Software item. If you cannot find this and have a license then you may be able to get in touch with your IT department to get a disc with the install files on it.

Adnan Z is right that you will need matching versions of LabVIEW and LabVIEW RT.

i have the labview 2009 9.0, borrowed it from the lab tech and i don't see any install files that pertain to RT under the software tab that is nested, all i see is the mathscript RT

It sounds like you don't have the LabVIEW Real-Time Module installed.  MathScript RT is a seperate install.

Do we have to buy it seperately if it is not already in the labview 2009 package?
