statechart on CLD

Is the new Statechart toolkit available when taking the CLD exam?

You have to check with the facility where you will be taking the exam.

You are allowed to use whatever they have installed, so the Q is "What do they have installed?" When I re-certified for CLA last December, the SC was not available.

I guess I've been doing state machines for so long I have not felt the need to use the statechart tool in quite a while. That and the fact that everytime LV upgrades a rev it's a headache to uninstall and reinstall into the latest version. Smiley Indifferent

I doubt the CLD exam problem would be so complicated that you would need it. If you are very comfortable with state machines you should have little trouble coming up with a good design on your own.

I may be mistaken but I believe you are talking about the state diagram editor add on.  I agree that using the statemachine template is as good as using the state diagram editor.  The statechart toolkit is a new addon that creates Harell state machines, a very nice tool but at a very high price.  I was curious because I find that they statechart tool makes certain aspects of programming much easier  and better stylistically, not everyone is able to use it because it does not come with the standard package.  So in a way it didnt seem fair to have it available for CLD exams since it could give an advantage to someone who is familiar with it.  Thank you for the feedback.

Cheers!

LabVIEW is all about an unfair advantage!

THe requirement to re-certify is in-place to ensure you are up-to-date on LV.

I used the SDE on one of my exams ( I think?).

If you can exploit the SC and complete the coding in the time allocated, I would be suprised if they did not allow it.

That being said, please keep in mind that I don't know the official NI stand on this subject and you should really contact NI Traning to find out if the allow it and if the center where you will be taking the test will have it installed on the machine you will be using.
