student version upgrade

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to upgrade a student version because 3.5 years ago I purchaged a labview student version and in the class we spent 2 whole hours  learning about Labview. After that time in didn't look back at it but at my internship a started using labview again and purshesed Labview 8.2 for the company I was working for. When I got more familiar with Labview I started liking it more and more. My internship is over but I want to continue with using Labview but is there a way to update my 3.5 year old labview or must I buy a newer version?

Hello Guus,

the upgrade advisor has no abilitiy to select the Student Edition as current version. I would advice to contact NI sales representative. Maybe they will give you the same price as upgrading from the Base Developing System.

The student edition is intended for educational use only, so I doubt you can officially upgrade it, since you're no longer a student. Maybe if you have good connections with your local NI office\academic institution you might be able to get such a copy for personal educational use. Of course, you can also volunteer to teach LabVIEW at a local school and so have a good excuse to get the school to buy some copies.

Additionally, you can download a fully functional evaluation version, but that license is only valid for 30 days.

Thanks for your answers. I think I will only use Labview at school (I'm still a student). It would be easy if I could use the new version of Labview at home but I rather go to school to use Labview than to purchase another licence.
