uninstalling applications before instalation

Hi

In the old days when I was building the executables and installers in LV, the installer conveniently asked to uninstall the old version before installing the new one.

In the LV 8.xx this is no longer happening.

Can annobody tell me how to force the installer to uninstall the previous version of the custome application?

Hi Pawel,

there's no more need for that. The installer will update the existing version (i.e. uninstall the old version and install the new one) in one step.

Thanks for the answer.

Than I must be doing something wrong, because after the instalation in "Add remve Programs" I have two versions of the aplication, but one with broken icon.

I will try to see what I can be doing wrong.

Hi Pawel

Did you change the Product name (in the build specification) or create a new installer build specification in the project? I don't know exactly what makes the Installer aware that it is the same application as before. In LV 7.1 the application builder displayed the GUID, but in LV 8.xx this is no longer visible.
Until now, we never had the problem you mentioned. We keep using the same installer build specification and we don't modify the Product Name.
