where to get training in labview?

I mean, other than on the job. I am proficient in using VB to control
equipment, but in my field (RF/Microwave) it seems that Labview is the
prevailing language of choice. A natural one, of course, since it's
geared towards this type of usage.

You've got a lot of options - on-line tutorials, local and Austin courses, self-paced courses, books. There is the LabVIEW Learning Center that can help yopu decide.

Another thing to look into are any of the LV books written by Gary Johnson. He's very good at explainging good LV style--which will be critical given your past VB experience.

The issue is that every text-based language requires thinking about problems in its own particular way--and the same is true of LV. The faster you get up to speed in thinking LV, the shorter the learning curve will be for you.
