why do i get a "dll initialization failed" error?

when i attempt to open a .vi in labview 7.0 on windows XP, it opens with a "dll initialization failed" error for the lvdaq.dll file.

What VI(s) are causing this problem? Any VI, or just particular VIs that are from the NI-DAQ function palette? Can you confirm that you have the lvdaq.dll installed on your machine. It should be located in Program Files\National Instrments\LabVIEW 7.0\vi.lib\Daq.
