hi,ikarus, nice to meet you~

I think your job concern the wind turbine control strategy. And now I am working at a wind turbine factory to test the performance of turbine.

And could I ask you some question about wind turbine control? could you pleasr contact me,  my email adress is :mwf0822@yahoo.com.cn

Hi,

I'm currently working on a wind turbine simulation tool. I would like to know where the formulas that are given for Cp are from? Could you give the references?

Cheers!

Ikarus,

Concerning the results you posted for your Matlab simulation, I think that something's very weird.
Your Cp is alternatively positive and negative and so your Power is.
Maybe something is wrong if you have a negative efficiency and a negative power... did you try to see the answer of your model to a constant speed?

I know that this thread is quite old, but if someone had an explanation/solution it could be interesting.
Best regards,
Biniou

Hi,

I worked with the Cp curves given by wind turbine manufacturer, and then I approached it by a gaussian curve to facilitate the simulation. that was my solution, but it requires to have the Cp curves from the manufacturer.

I think the formulas for the Cp calculation are not a good aproximation, I tested several of them, taked from academic papers, and I didn't get good results.

If you want i can share with you my work.

greetings.

Hi,

i'm sorry, but my job was only the contruction of a wind turbine simulation tool, so i'm not a expert in the strategies of control. my work had the objective of facilitate the study of wind turbine control, but this study is in hands of other people.
greetings.

Thanks for your answers, ikarus.

I would be interested in the calculations you did to obtain the equation of the gaussian curve from existing manufacturer's Cp curves (in particular the way of determination of the constant C1 to C6). I'm also looking for theoritical equations for the approximations of Cp, it would be very nice if you could share your findings or references.

The output power calculation formula of Hummer Wind Turbine Generator:

P=1/2*ρ*S*V^3*Cp*η

 P——Output Power;

 ρ——Air Density;

 S——Area of Blades;

V——Wind Speed;

Cp——Wind Utilization Coefficient

 η——Generator Efficiency

The actual 400W-600W wind turbines(www.scfwindturbine.com) require a wind speed of at least 2.5 m/s and reach optimal power output when the wind speed is 11 m/s. If the wind speed is more than 25 m/s, the turbines are shut down to prevent damage. Different models need different start-up wind speed and working wind speed.

Hope this can help.

Hello everyone

I am working with the simulation loop trying to simulate power plant models. I found this example, Wind turbine with DFIG - Wind Power Optimization.vi

I am wondering if anyone could share  more examples. I am interested in biomass and geothermal models.

Thank you
