CVI 5.5.1 under win 2000

I moved from Win 98 to Win2000. I am using CVI 5.5.1. Every now and then CVI
just freezes for a few seconds then continues working. This is, mildly
said, maddennig. This happens even when I am only running CVI. Are there
any issues, tweaks etc I should be aware of? I have Norton Antivirus and
Adaptec direct CD running, but they didn't give me problems in Win 98.

I am using BlackIce (Firewall / Port Monitor) and I have noticed that everynow and then it will block CVI for a few seconds or so. I think CVI uses UDP / TCP for comunicating between debug threads or something like that. It turned out that in my case BlackIce was incorrectly set up. Since I also use a few network connections, and am using ClearCase, this also has a tendency to "pause" CVI a few times.
CVI is lightening quick when I am running away from the Network and I suspend BlackIce (or set it up better).

These may not be your problems, but it may give you something to look at.

CVI does not use any type of networking for debugging so that's not the cause. Most of our CVI developer's use CVI in Windows 2000 and we don't see this problem so it must be something with your configuration. If you are using a Source Code Control package that is a high possibility for this problem. Outside of that, I really don't have any great guesses. I can tell you that it's definately just a CVI/Win2000 issue though.

With Win2000 and a local HP Deskjet 815 Printer here I had a similar effect: the refresh of the UI was freezing from time to time for some seconds. - I found the problem to be caused by the printer driver of the HP 815 (although I had not addresserd the printer. The installation of a driver update solved the problem
