Converting a flat map in a globe

Hi,

I'm searching something for making from a picture (*.jpg, *.bmp, ...) like this a ball. The Picture (in this case an earth-map) should tight the ball. The ball should be in 3D that I can roll the ball on screen.

a possible solution would be to use a 3rd party software to convert the picture to 3D and save it as VRML, STL or ASE file.

Unfortunately there is no function to import such files in LabWindows/CVI but you can create a dll from the labview programm an use it in CVI.

But what is a "3rd party software"? Are there any free-programmes or tools? Do you now any programm that you can command?
