F12 causing "break" message

I searched for this and found an instance mentioned in 2002 that sounds a lot like what I'm seeing.  When I'm running any application (in either debug or release) *in* the CVI environment, hitting F12 (*not* ctrl-f12) causes the following message to appear:
(title)LabWindows/CVI Message
A non-debuggable thread is trying to suspend execution at address 7C901230.
Do you want to suspend execution?
Yes / No

I've tested this with a blank project (attached) under CVI 8.5.0 (279) on multiple machines (Windows XP).  Any idea where this is coming from?  I do not have "global debug key" enabled.

I can reproduce Steve's problem in all my applications as well, but with a different address reported.  I'm using CVI 8.5 (280.. 279 with overlapped chart  fix).
