Future of our CVI Projects

@RobertoBozzolo wrote:

It's true that NI is leaving CVI in a limbo of no-news about its future, but it's pretty much evident that present release will be the last one. Maybe I'm a bad person or I'm simply thinking negative but... I wonder if NI is just delaying an official announcement to gain another little year of licence renewals!

I'm thinking this way as we have just received the proposal for renewing our SSP program at a discounted price... which is just 150% of the last year!

If this is NI policy with 30-years suscribers, I suppose the future of our CVI projects will be very short!

By now I have received the fifth (!) reminder to renew my SSP. I really don't think there is any interest in (long-term, since 1996 actually) customers any more, just in share holders. What should be the benefit of changing my perpetual license into one that ends after one year? And having me to pay a "promotional" price of 900 Euro for not having any new release in sight?

So sad, I shed tears over the times when NI was engineer driven and with strong support by people such as Luis (now retired), Nick, Mert, Mohan, Johannes to name the most prominent ones. Well, times are changing...

For those interested, a discussion is started in the Breakpoint board about the NI-Emerson affair:

What do you think about an Emerson takeover?

Even if the first posts (as usual 😉 ) are oriented to LabVIEW, it may be interesting to participate since Emerson appears highly interested in the business and this could lead to a significant change in the whole NI as we know till now.

Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

Hi Roberto,

You have helped so many users over the years and it is so sad that all that knowledge will not be useful in future.

Thank you for your help in the past.
