Ring control lockup

Solved!
Go to solution

Yes, I agree that this is a major bug. Yesterday, I already notified people internally that this is an urgent issue, and that it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. You won't have to wait 3 years. I can't give you a firm deadline yet, but it should be in the order of weeks, not months. At that point, you will be provided with a patch or a workaround (or both).

I'm really sorry for this inconvenience.

Also, I want to make sure that we address all the hang issues you're having, as quickly as possible. With that in mind, I'm still not sure if this hang is the one and only hang that you are having, or if there are others. The reason I'm not sure is because at one point you wrote that you had seen a hang in Windows. However, this particular hang would not have happened in Windows. Is it possible that you've only ever seen it in Linux?

OK, thanks, I'll wait for a fix.

As for the windows lockup, I was trying to pintpoint the problem by removing large sections of logic, so it's entirely possible that something else caused the hang. I certainly haven't seen it with only the ring. I don't do production runs on Windows, so that's not really an issue for me.

I wanted to check the bug report, but I don't see it here: https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/bugs/14/labwindows--cvi--2013--2013-sp1--and-2013-sp2-kn...

Am I looking in the wrong place ?

Oops, I did give you the wrong bug number! It's actually 477744, not 477444.

But you still won't find it in the Known Issues list. That list isn't updated continuously, unfortunately (you can see the "Publish Date" at the top of the list). You'll only find this bug report on the next update of the list, which I'm not sure when it will be.

So far as I know, it hasn't been fixed yet. My guess is that it will still take a few weeks. I'm sorry that I can't be more specific.

Feel free to ask me about it on a weekly basis.

It's that time of the week when I ask again if there is a fix yet. I have several projects on hiatus because of this and will soon begin to roast on coals...

I can tell you that it's now in work, but I don't have an exact date for you yet.

Still in work. I expect that we will have a patch approximately two weeks from now.
