Trouble bringing other app windows above CVI

Hi,

When my CVI app is running, I have trouble bringing other application windows to the top. For example, if I want to switch to Excel, if I click the Excel titlebar, the Excel windows becomes active but does not come to the top. If I double-click it (thereby restoring its size from full-screen or vice-versa) then it does come to the top. I have tried adjusting the panel float options but nothing seems quite Windows compliant. Can anything be done? I am using CVI 7.0

Also, will CVI 7.1 have a fix for the bug where dimmed controls are hatched over with the panel control, even if they are sitting on a coloured decoration that is a completely different colour? I am really looking forward to that fix!

Hello Jamie,

Regarding the bug: Until CVI7.1 is released and the known changes published, this information is insider information and is not avaiable so will have to wait until around the 27th of this month. I am an Employee of NI and I dont have such access to this information.

A date for the evaluation version has also not been published yet.

Regarding your issue, does your program set the active window continuously to be the CVI window i.e. using such functions like MakeApplicationActive or DisplayPanel?

Have you tried it on another machine and are you sure its a CVI issue? What happens if you use control + alt + del and then use the switch to command? If this allows you to switch to the application OK then I would suggest this to be a windows issue.
By try this and the software on another machine will help remove this variable.

Kind regards, Steven Bird

Steven,
It is not machine dependent and you the 'switch to' method gives the same result. You can switch ok by clicking the taskbar icon for the application. I can find no mention of a Windows issue anywhere. I think it is a CVI issue. I am using the app in debug mode. Any ideas?

Jamie, I have searched NI's support Portal to find no known issues of this within NI's installed fieldbase. Are you using all the CPU resource within your CVI program?

Steven,

Have you tried it on your machine?
