hide paths for files in a project

I'm new to CVI 8.5.1, coming from 6.0

The amount of information being shown on the screen is very cluttered, and I'm trying to clean things up.

One thing that is standing out as unndeeded to me is tdisplaying the entire path for all the files in my project (in the panel on the left).

I would be great if I could define a starting point for the path (like q:\cctd\tools\test_code) and then that part of the path would not be displayed and only the paths after that are diaplayed (like for  q:\cctd\tools\test_code\source\first.c all I would see is something like ..\source\first.c).

Or, even just removing the entire path would be good.

If it is possible, I cannot find it.

Is this possible?

Sure. Right-click in the open area of the project window, and uncheck "Show Full Pathnames".

Thanks

Next:

in the code window, when I am browsing around and press the Home key on my keyboard it takes me to the start of text on the current line, rather then the actual beginning of the line. Since every other program I use has the Home key move to the actual beginning of the line can I set CVI to do that too.

It seems like the editor is trying to be smart with this. It also trys to figure out how I want lines added by putting tabs that line up with the previous line. I'd like to disable that too, When I'm at the end of the line and press my enter key I'd like to add a new and not add any tabs or spaces or whatever. Can I change this behavior?

If I can turn off all the "smart navigation" features of the editor, that would really be nice.

There is no way to change the behavior of the home key, though if you press it twice, it will get you to the start of the line.

Options>>Editor Preferences provides a way to disable Auto-Indentation, along with some other options you may find helpful.

OK, thanks.

Its too bad I can't ahve the Home key do what it does in all other Windows XP applications.

Another setting I can't find is that when I start editing a file, it does not stop the program from running.

I think in 6.0 it had a pop up asking if you want to stop execution; I'd rather it just stop and not have an annoying popup.

The behavior of the home key in CVI is fairly consistent with many other common Windows applications including Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft Word. If you feel strongly about making the behavior configurable, you should officially submit a product suggestion.

CVI 8.5 added the ability to edit source files without having to suspend your program. This obsoletes the old popup that asks if you want to suspend execution. Is there a particular reason you always want to suspend execution before editing your source? If so, you can add that to your product suggestion.
