Robert,
The Citadel is not in the list. Is the Citadel/Lookout installed on the server 2008 computer?
If lookout and Citadel is not installed on the computer, you cannot create the DSN and you cannot use the ODBC to connect the remote Citadel database. The ODBC behaviour is that you have to install the database ODBC driver on the local computer so that you can connect remote through the local driver. But the problem is that you have to install Lookout or DSC in order to have the Citadel ODBC driver installed. We don't have a standalone installer for the Citadel ODBC.
You can install the Lookout client software or web client software to install the Citadel. It's smaller than server software.

Hello,
This is kind of off topic, but I have another problem now. I want to write values to modbus registers using the modbus object. I tried to do it using edit connections. For example
Modbus1.40001 = Pot2.value
but the modbus value does not change. I followed the steps in this link:
http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3381
but the modbus value does not change. Can anyone tell me how to get around this problem?
Thanks

Do you see alarm on Modbus object?
Make a log file on serial port from Option->Serial Port. The detailed steps is in the link.

Yes,
There are no problems when communicating, but I want to enter or write values to modbus addresses from a text box and since it's currently reading the device or meter, it doesn't allow me to enter new values. Is there any way to go around this problem? Thanks.
Robert

What's the alarm message?
Can you make a log file and attach it here?

Hello,
I have a national instruments fieldpoint device and I want to use modbus communication protocol. Is it possible to fieldpoint as a modbus communication protocol to read the temperatures instead of the fieldpoint driver in lookout.

The cFP 180x can be used as Modbus Slave. I'm not sure if 2xxx controller can also be the Modbus Slave device. You'd better contact the NI Application Engineer.

Make a new thread, if you used the SQL Management Studio the properties of the database show the connection string.
