How can I use Lookout 5 as an OPC server?

I need to connect to Lookout 5.0 via OPC to collect data from a remote machine. I have installed the NI server explorer on my data collection box, and I am able to view the lookout OPC server through that. I am unable to browse to the Lookout OPC server through my data collection software (VisualPlant by EMT). Is Lookout's OPC server OPC 2.0 compliant? Is there something special that I must set that will allow me to browse to the Lookout OPC server from a remote machine? Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Remote OPC communication isn't always as straight-forward, unfortunately. You will find lot of useful info' in the following KB articles:

Also check out the links at the bottom of these articles. And yes, Lookout OPC Server is 2.0 compliant. You can check this in ServerExplorer (right-click>>properties).

Thanks for your help. I am still having trouble connecting. I have no problem connecting through the NI server explorer. I am able to establish a connection if I manualy enter the Program ID (National Instruments.LookoutOPCServer) in a 3rd party opc client (Kepware Quick Client). The problem is that the program that I am using for my data collection (VisualPlant) requires that you be able to browse to the OPC server. Basically you select the machine running the server and it displays a list of available OPC servers. I can find RS Linx, and Kepware running on that machine but NI Lookout does not appear in the list. Is there some additional setting that must be completed to make this work? I am running Win NT 4.0 SP6 on both machines involved. If anyone c
an provide help it would be greatly appreciated.

I am new to the SCADA and the Lookout software.

But I have a system that has 18 RTUs and two control stations that is used for underpass in Riyadh Saudi.

The RTUs used are bought from Zetron (1700 controller and 1716 as RTU)

I would like to have your help on this system.
