Is it possible to run Lookout on Windows 7?

Is it possible to run Lookout Direct on Windows 7?

I tried to install and when opening Lookout I received a "Waiting for time service" message.  I tried running with Windows XP compatibility mode but I'm not sure what all the services are.  I'm guessing I would need to set the executables for each service to Windows XP compatibility too.  Is there a list somewhere?

I'm not sure what version of Lookout I have here but if the most recent one will run under XP it will be worth upgrading for me.  The copy I have was purchased about 2 years ago.  I'll get the exact version number when I reinstall on my XP partition.

Thanks,

Dave

Lookout 6.1+ should work in Windows 7.  I use Windows Server 2008 and it works ok with 6.1 and 6.5, some minor problems.

XP Mode should allow any version to work.

Good luck,

Mike

Officially Lookout 6.2 and previous version don't support Windows7, but personally I think 6.2 and maybe 6.1 should work.

The next version of Lookout will support Windows7.

Windows XP is not a problem for Lookout Direct.

Actually Lookout Direct software is not from NI. And it is not the latest version of Lookout. You'd better contact Automation Direct for the OS compatibility.

The time service is called National Instruments Time Synchronization. Find it in Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services. Try to start or restart it.

Lookout Direct seems to be rather antiquated.  Not only do I have issues using it with newer operating systems but the interface itself leaves a lot to be desired.

Is it possible to use NI's lookout with Automation Direct's PLCs?

Automation Direct has a product called "DirectLogic PLUS" which adds the driver objects to NI Lookout.

Dave,

Koyo/AutomationDirect can use Modbus, DirectNet (Look at DL205 Driver) and the DL PLus (Uses the DirectSOFT Server).

If I understand correctly DL Plus is included with DirectSOFT32.

I'm not clear on Modbus or DirectNet.  Would I need additional software to use Modbus?   For DirectNet does AutomationDirect supply the DL205 driver?  I haven't found it as an available download on their site yet.

Regards,

Dave

I don't know how they sell the DL Plus. I thought it was an individual product.

If the PLC supports Modbus, you don't need anything else. Lookout has Modbus driver.
