PCI6515 Drivers for WINDOWS XP EMBEDDED

Hello,

I need to install PCI-6515 Drivers on Windows XP Embedded.

I can't install NI-DAQ disk because there is no such thing like "windows installer" in WXPE.

How I can find only the *.dll or *.exe installation files ?

Thanks,
              Guy.

Hey Guy,

National Instruments does not officially support Windows XP Embedded since we've never officially tested our products using WXPE.  I have very limited information available regarding WXPE, but I will do everything I can to help you out.

I need to know more about the error you're encountering.  Are you installing it from a disc or from the download off our website?  What is the actual error you encounter?  If you could send a screenshot, that would be great.

The setup file on our disc is actually an *.exe, but all the individual installers for the various components are msi.  I'm wondering if there isn't a way to install msi support on WXPE.

With more information about what you're encountering we may be able to figure something out.

Thank you, Elijah.

I will describe all my steps:

First, I tried to install Ni-DAQmx disk and received the following message:

"This application has failed to start because oledlg.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I copied OLEDLG.DLL file to X:\windows\system32 directory and tried again to install the NI-DAQmx software from the CD.

The message I get was:

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. Error: The system cannot find file specified. Restart your computer and try again."

After I downloaded and installed the last version of Windows Installer (WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe) I tried to install NI-DAQ again.

And finally I received the same Windows Installer Error message.

Best Regards,

                      Guy.

Guy,

I'm afraid that since we don't support WXPE that I can't offer you any advice that has been tested or that is known to work.  Your troubleshooting steps do seem logical.  The one thing I might suggest is that you install the Windows installer before trying anything.  That is, before attempting to install anything or before placing the oledlg.dll file.  I can't imagine why Microsoft would disable their own installer.  It would make it very difficult to install a lot of products - including many of their own.  Because this seems improbable, might it be that the installation of WXPE on that machine is corrupt?  You could try a repair install or even a fresh install.

I've looked on Microsoft's website and the web in general for information on these errors, and as I'm sure you've discovered there isn't much.  Most similar errors I found stemmed from a Win98 OS, which again leads me to believe that this isn't expected behavior for WXPE.

I wish I could offer you proven advice.  At this point you might consider contacting Microsoft's technical support.  I would venture that you'll find this error is not just associated with National Instruments software.  Hopefully they can tell you what's going on.

Good luck Guy, and if you do figure it out it would be great if you could post your resolution on this forum so we can learn from it.  Thanks, and have a great weekend!
