Problems when editing Hypertrend graphs

Solved!
Go to solution
When I'm adding items to a Hypertrend Group, the screen sometimes changes to a wierd configuration where none of the windows look normal.  If the Close button (X) is still visible, and I click on this and answer yes to saving the Client file while closing Lookout, then re-open Lookout, the problem goes away for a while and then returns later.

Sometimes I have to hit the <Esc> key to be able to see something on the screen that I can use to save and close the program.  Each time it does this, the screen has a different but similar weird appearance.  This only seems to occur when I'm in Edit mode and editing Hypertrend items.

I have tried shutting down Lookout and then re-booting the computer, but this only helps for a short time.

I'm using Windows XP, SP2 and Lookout 6.0.2.

This problem also occurred the last time I was setting up Lookout 6.0.2 using a different copy of Lookout on a different computer made by a different manufacturer.

I tried to capture a screen shot, but when it went wierd, I couldn't capture anything.  If it keeps up I'm going to try to take a picture of the screen using a digital camera.

Further information on this problem:  It seems to be linked to the condition of the data fields in the Revise HyperTrend window.

Within this window is a box containing data lines corresponding to the items to be graphed.  The headings are:   Expression    Line Color    Min/Max/Pos/Height.

There is room in this box for 19 lines of data.  If more than 19 Items are entered, a scroll bar appears to the right.

It appears that attempting to adjust the widths of any of these fields (to view more of the data in a field, for example) triggers this problem.  It may also be triggered if the width of the data displayed is covered by the scroll bar.

Can anyone figure out why this is happening and what to do about it?

I have reproduced this bug. I will look into it.
The current workaround is not to add so many traces in one group.

This problem persists in Lookout 6.1 hypertrends also.

Has a fix been issued for this(i.e. Lookout 6.1)? I have about 150 hypertrends to edit for another workaround to a client DDE failover? I need to edit the traces in the hypertrend to symbolic links that address the traces to a redundant server(TCP/IP) and it keeps somewhat crashing Lookout and trashing the screen graphics. I save alot and restart lookout alot, but a save during the problem has trashed my files and I've had to start over from a backup. Please help.

The 6.1 fix for this problem can be downloaded from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/904/lang/en.
Copy the hyper.cbx to lookout folder.

Does this fix also apply to Ver 6.0.2?

hyper.cbx  can be used in 6.0.
lkworks.dll and lookout.exe are not compatible.

So you're saying that if I'm running 6.0.2 I can use the hyper.cbx part of the download, but NOT the lkworks.dll or the lookout.exe from the download.  Is this correct?
