2D object tracking

I need a system that can track multiple objects on a table. There will be 5-10 object and I need to find them to ~1/4". What hardware and software products (the blob finding feature?) would enable me to do this? I have not done much in the area of image processing and am looking for a solution that is mostly built-in - no custom blob-finding algorithms.
