Hello there,

Now when I go to MAX I can see the camera under NI-IMAQdx Devices, but it has a small red circle with a white cross. I went through the help but I got to be missing something because it says I should right click on the camera and go Driver»NI-IMAQdx IIDC Digital Camera. There is no Driver when I right click on the camera and I end up getting another error message saying :

The error code passed into imgShowError is unknown.

So I got two error messages & I'm pretty sure its the same problem. You have to excuse me I'm a bit new to this plus - as most of you are- I'm self taught, so I'm still rough on the edges.

Hi Mishal_,
I believe this error has to do with drivers. First I want to ask if this is the first time you have used this camera. If it is, we should ensure that it is properly configured within the computer. I would suggest walking through the article Troubleshooting FireWire (IEEE 1394) Camera Installation Problems to determine if you have the correct drivers installed and that you are able to see the camera in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
If you have been using this camera successfully and it is now giving you an errors then this is a different issue. Please let me know if that is the case so that I may look into it further.
Thanks!
Lynn

Thank you for Responding Sarci1,
I went through the like but now I'm changing machines so as soon as I get a new computer I will provide you with feedback.

The problem is still occuring. And these are snap shot of the errors in MAX and while executing the vi

Hi Mishal_,
We should start by ensuring that camera works in MAX before moving on to LabVIEW. When you click on the camera in MAX do you get an error message? I noticed that your first image you had selected 'PXI.'

Hello Sarci1,
When I click on the camera it pauses for a second, then I get the error message, after clicking OK the camera is selected. PXI is what I selected before clicking the camera.

Hi,
Could you tell me what versions of MAX, LabVIEW, and NI-IMAQdx you are using? Also, what camera are you using?

It looks like the camera you are opening in MAX is "Basler GenICam Source". This is actually a DirectShow driver that Basler's Pylon software package installs and is not the actual camera. Since IMAQdx supports DirectShow devices it shows up in IMAQdx.
I am guessing since you installed Pylon you are trying to use a Basler GigE Vision camera. Since it is not showing up in the IMAQdx cameras list, I suspect you have some sort of connectivity issue with it. Have you tried using Basler's IP configuration utility to try to see if it can see the camera? If that can see it, it means you likely need to reset the IP address on the camera to match whatever configuration you are trying to use it with on your PC. Generally we recommend leaving the camera in its default state of DHCP/Link-Local-Addressing and plug it directly into a network port on the PC that is configured in the same default state.

Sure Lynn,
MAX V. 4.7.0f4
LABVIEW 8.5
NI-IMAQdx 3.7.0
Vision assistant 2010
Both 'Vision assistant' and ' NI-IMAQdx' are evaluation
I use a Basler A601f with a generic IEEE 1394 pci card
I have a licensed version 'the company has, I'm a mere trainee lol' of vision but its 2007 or something. Any way I liked 2010 functions more. They were much easier to implement.

Hello Eric,
You are correct I did install the Pylon software. But the camera is an IEEE 1394 camera not a GigE ( Basler A601f )
At this point I'm only using IEEE 1394 cable so the IP cofiguration utility didn't return an address.
