Hi,
I'm new to labview and trying to develop an eye-tracker using labview 8.6. It has the vision development module and i was wondering if this was sufficient for real-time image acquisition and processing or would i be needing any other software tools.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Hello, certainly it is possible and sufficient for real-time tracking!
About eye tracking - if you need an example, you can find the code here:
The code uses OpenCV functionalities along with the LabView UI (and some other functions like overlay).
Hope this helps a bit.
Best regards,
K

Thank you
I read at some sites that they also used vision acquisition softwares like NI-IMAQ to capture images from the webcam ........is this necessary?

Yes, to acquire images from a webcam you would need imaq-dx drivers.
Take a look at this link:

Hi,
I' ve tried to install Labview 8.6 on my laptop but it's sounding an error and people are telling me that it's a problem with my OS and it's not supporting . I'm using a Windows7 64-bit system.......can anyone help me with this....?

Hello,
I have 32-bit LabView (2013) installed on 64-bit Windows 7 operating system. Everything works without any problem. I also had LV 2011 and 2012 installed on 64-bit operating system.
The release notes for LV 8.6 show that it works on Vista, so it should work on Win 7 also. Try copying the entire contents of the disk(s) on your PC an install from there.
Best regards,
K
