MAX doesn't report Firewire 800 speed for AVT Pike F210B

Responding to Patrick's question about whether Microsoft has addressed the S800 issue in XP SP3 and/or Vista, the answer is regrettably no.  For more on this please see AVT knowledge-base article on the topic at http://goavt.mykb.com/Article_249D6.aspx

Microsoft has claimed they'll address this in a future Vista service pack.  Thankfully the driver "rollback" is 100% effective under SP3  (as with SP2).

Ah.  I read something about this actually when I purchased a new FireWire card for a project last year.  For me, I didn't require that kind of bandwidth.  So I didn't go to the trouble.
I wonder if XP SP3 has addressed this?  Or possibly Vista?

For XP SP3 it is working in the same way. You just need to disable the SP3.cab as the SP2.cab in the system directory during the downgrade.
We are working on a tool to do it without the steps in the system directory.

Under Vista is the speed at the moment restricted to 400MBit with the 1394b devices & cameras. There is a way to get 800MBit, but it is very tricky and requires disabling the Vista driver signature enforcement.

So Vista is still no recommendation at all, also with this issue.
