NI CVS-1450 Device - fluid coming out

Anyone know why my NI1456's are leaking fluid?

Hello

Specifically fluid from where?

And what kind of fluid?

Regards.

It resembles a light oil. It seeps from the internals (through any seem in the case) of the unit and collects on the underside when they are mounted right side up. It totally saturated one of the input power plugs on the bottom of one unit. I see it on others as well.

I do not know if it is a heat sink paste that has broken down, maybe battery acid? or exactly what. The units are still functioning but it appears the saturated input power terminal may have caused some temporary V issues this week.

I have not disassembled one yet  to see and thought maybe someone else has experienced similar issues.

I checked our previous Service Request and our documentation about it, and there is nothing that points to a "fluid leak".

Can you attach photos, please?

Regards

Here you can see the change in color on the cooling fins and the shiny reflective area on the housing bottom (and the plug itself) where the substance collects on the underside. I have checked other components in the system and do not see any similar issues. Trying to rule out any environmental factors within our plant.)

kw227,

That is interesting. Is there potentially anything around that could be leaking onto it? There's no reason for that hardware to be leaking any sort of fluid. I would check the surroundings to see if there could be anything being sprayed/dripped onto it?

I checked everything quite thoroughly and do not see any outside contaminants anywhere nor any similar signs of seepage in other components within the cabinets. All the systems have electrical cabinets which are fully enclosed and independent of the electro mechanical functions. Four systems use these controllers. Three are like build machines and the other has no relationship other than the vision system. The "other" system gets very little utilization, ~ 5%, and it shows the same symptom. Pic enclosed of the "other" systems controller and again you can see the contrast on the fins where the seepage shows.
