NI-MAX GigE camera not discovered

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I have my Allied Vision GX2750 GigE vision camera connected directed to my PC via ethernet cable, and I can not discover the camera under my network devices in MAX.  I believe my software is configured correctly, but I have a screenshot of my MAX window with my camera connected just in case.  I have used this camera with the CVS-1458RT and it was discovered. I had looked at the troubleshooting guide for discovering GigE vision cameras but was not able to fix this issue.  Does anyone have any ideas for fixing this problem?

You can download Wireshark (https://www.wireshark.org/) and use it to capture your network traffic.  If you type in "gvcp" in the filter box, you should see "DISCOVERY_ACK" commands being sent from your camera to your computer.  If you don't see them, then you have a networking issue- most likely case #3, #4, or #5 as described in this article, https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA03q000000YM6JCAW&l=en-US. If you do see them, we can debug further.

It looks like I am seeing those "DISCOVERY_ACK" commands.  By the way, my camera works with the vendor's software on my computer.

Open up the Windows "Device Manager" and see what your network adapter settings are set to.  You can try changing the network adapter driver to the default Intel or whatever other driver you have (Right click on the network adapter -> Update Driver Software... -> Browse My Computer -> Let Me Pick From A List On My Computer).

I do not have that NI Vision Acquisition Devices that you show.  I have NI GigE Vision Adapter.  Would that be an issue here?  I tried changing the adapter driver for Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM, but that didn't work.

You can try to change the driver from the NI GigE driver to the default Intel one on the port that your camera is connected to.  What network interface card are you using?

Also, if possible, you can try updating Vision Acquisition to the latest version.  We changed a lot of our GigE Vision driver code since 15.5, which is why my screenshot of Device Manger earlier was different than yours.

It is on NI GigE Vision Adapter #2.  I tried changing that to the Intel(R) Pro/1000 Dual Port Network Connection, and that didn't work.  I'll try updating that Vision Acquisition software.

Downloading that version made my camera work in MAX.  Now, I am using Labview 2015 SP1 for a program with thise camera.  Will this version of IMAQ-dx still work with my labview version?

Newer versions of Vision Acquisition work fine with older versions of LabVIEW.

There is a table of supported software in the middle of this document:
