Time out problem occured while using IMAQ grabbing images via Balser Scout camera

Solved!
Go to solution

I am new to this.  The Balser scout worked fine with the Pylon SDK. The computer also found the camera via the MAE, but when I clicked the "grabbing" button, a time out error poped up after a while. Then I turned back to Pylon Viewer, the camera seemed dead.

Is there anything wrong with my setting-up?

Hello,

What is the model number of your camera? More specific information is needed in order to troubleshoot this. The scout cameras come in both GigE and Firewire versions. What steps have you done so far in order to try and get things working? If you right click the camera in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) and select driver, which one is the camera setup to use?

Hello Zach,

The camera I bought from NI is the Basler scout scA1390-17gm.

What I need to do is to control the camera via Vision assitant software.

My network adpter is Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller, so I installed the pylon GigE Vision Streaming filter on my PC.

For the hardware, I bought the Basler trigger I/O cable and power supply.

After I connected the camera on my PC, the pylon viewer came with the adapter driver worked well, the camera grab images well. However, when I tried the MAX, the camera could be found but not working at all. A message of error OxBFF6901B Timeout showed up after 2-3 seconds.

And then I turn back to pylon viewer, the camera did not work either.

I right clicked the camera in MAX, and find no driver info.

Thank you very much.

Lew,

Check that the Windows firewall is disabled. Also, the Broadcom interface listed does not support jumbo frames so make sure to adjust the packet size used to 1500 bytes.

Thank you Eric,

I do have turned off the firewall of my network adapter. And I don't quite understand how to adjust the packet  size to 1500. Could you please describe it more specifically?

Hello,

From your description of hardware, I noticed that you bought the trigger cable. Out of curiosity, do you have the camera setup in MAX to do a triggered acquisition? If that is the case, this might be what is causing the timeout if you are not sending a signal to the camera for it to acquire. I would also like you to take a look at this document on GigE cameras and how to troubleshoot them. Hopefully it will help.

Hello,

I have similar problem with Timeout OxBFF6901B error.

I am using LabView 2013 and Nikon DS-Fi1 camera and its controller. Controler is connected to PC with USB connection. Firewall probably isn't cause of my problems.

Links to camera and controller:

Our goal is to connect camera to LabView to simultaneously acquire all data we need.

Thanks for help in advance!

Best regards,

Nejc

First off, you should always create a new thread if your hardware or software is different than the original post.

Is your camera connected to the PC using USB 2.0? Can you see your camera in MAX? Where are you getting this timeout error?

Hello,

thanks for fast response. Should I make new thread now or can you move those posts in new thread?

I can see device in NI MAX and see some properties but when I hit button Grab I get error Timeout after 5s as set.

If you have some solution I will be grateful, on Monday I can send some pictures making problem more clean

Thanks for help
