Unable to use Geomteric Matching Training INterface - VBAI 2.6

I've did a complete install of VBAI 2.6 on a system with Labview 7.1.1 / IMAQ 3.1.3 and I get an error message when I try to utilize the Geometric Matching feature.

It says:  the Geometric Matching Training Interface was not found in your system.  Please re-install or repair the installation of VBAI...

Any ideas...?  I previously had a trial version of VBAI 2.0.2 installed but i've uninstalled it already....I've re-installed the software 4 times already to no avail....

The Geometric Matching Training Interface will install in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Vision\Utility\Geometric Matching Training Interface\

See if it is installing the Training interface or not - if not, then it could be that your installation CD is corrupted and not installing everything. If it is present then there might be some registry key in windows that is not writing correctly and allowing Vision Builder AI to see if it is installed.

It might require removing all NI software and clearing the software registry keys of all NI software references.

Quite possibly a problem could have been caused from the earlier version of Vision Builder for AI not uninstalling completley - not common, but windows is notorious for leaving little bits of info behind after uninstalling programs.

Hopefully this gives some direction to the problem.

Identical files are installed.  Nothing missing when comparing working to non-working computers....

I'm uncertain about the suggestion to look in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Vision\Utility\Geometric Matching Training Interface\

This child folder doesn't exist on the 2 computers I have VBAI installed.  On one computer,  the Geometric Matching Training INterface works perfectly. On the other,  it doesn't.  The utility directory only has this 1 file in it: "Convert VI to use LabVIEW 7 Image Datatype.llb"

I used the same cd to install on 2 different computers.  One computer works,  the other doesn't.  So I doubt the CD is bad.

The last suggestion is the one I've yet to pursue.  Is there anyway to get a list of registry locations the installer writes too?  If possible,  I'd like to 'fix' it this way since re-installing all NI software can be a pain....

a Question for anyone from NI who worked on VBAI 2.6.....

   What is "called" or executed when user clicks on "New Template" button in the Geometric Matching tab control?

Sorry about the reference to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Vision\Utility\Geometric Matching Training Interface\

This is only present when the Vision Development Module is installed - it gives you direct access to the Geometric Matching Training Interface rather than only through a step in Vision Builder AI.

I still would recommend uninstalling all NI Software - there are a number NI drivers etc that install with the program.

I attached a screenshot of a clean Windows XP machine with only Vision Builder AI installed (no other NI software). As you will see, there are a number of drivers that intertwine with other NI software. Trying to clean out ALL registry keys that deal with Vision Builder AI without disturbing other NI software is impossible. Also - deleting registry keys can lead to system instability if care is not taken.

No amount of uninstalling just VBAI and Cleaning out the registry helped.   A complete re-install of Labview was necessary.... No problems with VBAI now.....
