Using NI-IMAQ on RT system

We have Labview RT and NI-IMAQ, but not vision. We are running a PXI-1000B chassis.

When I boot it in RT mode, I can see and use our 6070E cards and 6602 card, but I cannot see or use the 1409.

Is it possible to use IMAQ on RT, without Vision?

Thanks,

TomH.

Hi Tom. You can certainly acquire an image with just NI-IMAQ and LabVIEW RT. I first recommend that you install NI-IMAQ 2.6 from ni.com.

To configure your 1409, boot the PXI system into Windows. If you can see your 1409 in MAX there and acquire an image, then you should be all set. There is an okay tutorial on ni.com that explains where to go from there. Just go to ni.com and type "imaq rt" in the main search field.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks, I did this and it worked for taking pictures. The problem seems to be the old version of imaq I had. The tutorial seemed to say that the only way to reconfigure the camera or card was to load the PXI in windows, and then save with configureIMAQRT - is this so, or is there a way to change settings without having to reboot?

Thanks,

Tom.

Hi Tom,
Unfortunately, up to now, it is not possible to modify the settings directly running the RT engine. The only solution is to reboot in windows, and save with the file(configureIMAQRT).
Another solution could be to use the same card in your computer (a pci one) and in your PXI chassis. You could then set up the various parameters in MAX locally (development machine), and then execute the configureIMAQRT tool. And then finally, ftp this file to the RT controler. This is just an IDEA... I never tried this, so I'm not 100% sure it will work.
(I'll try to check later, when our PXI chassis will be back ;o) ) >>> but that's not a cheap solution :o(
