image to 8 bit binary

Hello,

I am working on IMAQ vision 7.1 When i save the mage as   name.jpg  and open in vision assistant to do thresholding on image ,error message is displayed that the image is rgb type and not of 8 bit binary . How do i convert the present image to binary. Pls suggest me as i am new in using imaq Vision.

In Labview When threshold is applied to an image error message pops up stating that contrast is not correct how do i continue to correct the error.

First step is to convert your image to grey levels.

In Vision assistant, use the Extract Color Plane tool, and choose the appropriate plane. In LabVIEW, the function is in Vision utilities > Color utilities sub-palette.

Hi,

You may use cast vi to select as "8-bit". The input can be RBG and the output will be only 8-bit gray scale image.

Surprisingly, in Vision Assistant, the Cast function do not accept RGB images !

this is 1 of the options to convert images to 8bit if it is not dealing with any of the image plane.
