how to extract and store a single value from signal to be used later in the code

Hi,

I have a detector signal coming in from a NI-USB 6009 and in order to manipulate the signal I need to extract one of the first values and store it. Basically I am trying to shift my signal to zero so the changes in the signal would show up as the actual voltage drop and not a difference. 

I am very new to Labview so any help would be appriciated. And if anyone can suggest a different way to do this, it will also be very helpful. Thanks.

Can you better explain what you are trying to do? By the sound of things it sounds like you are trying to store the initial value of an analog acquisition, is this correct?

Cool, have you looked at any of the Daqmx examples. There are several example that do what you want. Just out of curiosity how long and fast do you plan to acquire for?
