measurement studio group in toolbox is not shown

When I tried to create a website, I could not use Waveformgraph in toolbox, because it is not shown.  The entire group is missing.
I installed .NET framewrok 3.5 and Microsoft windows sdk for Windows server 2008 and .NET framework 3.5.
But when I created windows application, I was able to use all the measurement studio Active X control ( WaveformGraph, Led, and etc) in toolbox.
I use microsoft visual studio 2008.

It is only when I try to create a Webtsite,  I could not use any of measurementstudio controls.

Hi jinsoo,

What version of Measurement Studio do you have installed? We just released version 8.5 for Measurement Studio which provides native .NET suppot for Visual Studio 2008. This means you should see the Measurement Studio controls in the Toolbox, you should have a Measurement Studio menu item, Measurement Studio project templates, etc.

If you have an earlier version of Measurement Studio, you need to follow the Using Measurement Studio 8.1.2 and Prior in Visual Studio 2008 tutorial.

Hi Jonathan,

I am using 8.5.  I see measurement studio control in toolbox if I create windows form application, but if do file>>new>>website, I see all the measurement studio project templates, so I click on ckeck box in Add/Remove .NET class library.  However, still I do not see measurement studio controls in tool box.

In other project template, I have no problem with "drag and drop" operation of measurement controls contained in measurement studio tab of toolbox.

It is only when I create a wesite project.

I think this is related to configuration problemm.  I have a .NET framework 3.5 on my XP operating system which is the most recent release.

Hi Jinsoo,
  1. So to be clear, when you select File >> New Website, you see the NI ASP.NET Web Site project templates?
  2. Assuming you do, next you should see a Measurement Studio ASP.NET Web Site Wizard dialog that allows you to select 3 libraries (Enterprise, NetworkVariable, and Web Forms). Do you see these items?
  3. I assume you have either the Professional or Enterprise Editions of Measurement Studio? The reason I am asking about that is because the Standard package doesn't include the ASP.NET controls.
  4. If you meet the above requirement, do you even seen a Measurement Studio tab in the Toolbox?
  5. If you right-click on the Website item in the Solution Explorer and select Property Pages, do you see the National Instruments assemblies like NationalInstruments.UI, NationalInstruments.UI.WebForms, etc?

In addition, I was able to open .NET example program called "Basic.2008" and compile and run it.  But I still can not find measurement studio tab in the toobox.

Hi Jinsoo,

For step 5, you should have done something like in the attached Add References.png snapshot.

Try this step for me:
  1. Right-click anywhere in the Toolbox
  2. Select Reset Toolbox
Visual Studio should now refresh the Toolbox with its original settings which should include the Measurement Studio tab.

I am also having this problem.  I have been working on this project for over two years now.  This is the first time that I have been unable to select Measurement Studio tools form the toolbox.  I tried resetting the toolbox as you suggested and it did not fix the problem.

Visual Studio 2005, Measurement Studio 8.5

My listed toolboxes include:

All Windows Forms
Common Controls
Containers
Menus & Toolbars
Data
Components
Printing
Dialogs
Crystal Reports
General

When I click on items under the Measurement Studio menu item nothing happens.  I can't create a new measurement studio project.  See attached error:

Any ideas on how to get the box back?

Hi Michael,

Did this issue just start happening after installing Measurement Studio 8.5? Did you upgrade your DAQ driver at all? What version of DAQ do you have? We had a similar issue to this discussed in this post.

Hi Jonathan,

I have no problem seeing measurement studio on the brand new laptop now with VISTA.  However, whenever I tried to use netwrokvariable, my visual studio 2008 restarted.  I could not use Networkvariable at all.  It looks like DEP(data exchange prevention) thing.  So, I used bcdedit.exe/set{current} nx AlwaysOff command as administrator adn restarted VISTA.  Still, it crashed whenever I tried to use NetWorkVariable.

I have another visual studio 2008  with measurement studio 8.5.1 on Windows xp, and I was able to finish your example without any problem if I use windows form application;i.e. I was able to see all the tool box and use networkvariable.  But if I created new website ptoject, I could not even see measurement studio tool box.  I clicked reset button.

You vaguely(?) showed that I add reference menu bar, but i am sure what I should do with it.

I am sorry.  I do not know how to solve this problem.
For some reason, I see everything when I tried to do something in Windows form application.

I hope Jonathan will give me the definite answer.
