problem in installing measurement studio

i have not use my Measurement studio for a few years, I now have to reuse it in my present job to revise my previous programs and wirte new ones. I try to install it to my computer which already installed VB6 and its patch already. My computer is having Windows XP OS.

I got a message of "hp34420a.exe - Entry point not found" "The procedure entry point ?GetSpyMode@CNSpyLogger@@SAHHZ could not be located in the dynamic link linrary NiSpyLog.dll" which hang and get not stop this taks unless I reboot my computer.

Woudl you please help?

Hi MarsCHAN,

This error commonly occurs when trying to link against a DLL that is a different version than what was originally compiled with. Do you know what driver is being used by the hp34420a.exe application? The NiSpyLog.dll is included in the NI-VISA driver so you may need to install the version of NI-VISA that the hp34420a.exe application was developed with or compile the application against a newer version of NI-VISA.

The problem happens when the installation reaches 95% with message "Installing IVI specific drivers".

anyway it does not go over and I have to reboot the computer.

Please advise what I have to do. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi MarsCHAN,

Do you have the original source code that you can build the application from or are you trying to use an installer for a previously built application? If the driver is the only part of the application that is not installing on the machine you can try to install the IVI instrument driver for the instrument manually. It looks like an IVI driver for the hp34420a is available on ni.com/idnet. In addition, make sure the installation is being performed with Administrator level permissions.

I install from the installation disc that I bought by runnign the "setip". Files are hidden in the file full.1, full.2, full.3 etc under directory disk 1, disk 2. I cannot see the file "hp34420a".

Can you clarify when you are receiving the errors? Is the error message from your first post occuring during installation of the application? Can you post a screenshot of the error message?

In addition, did you attempt to install the instrument driver manually from the instrument driver network as previously mentioned?

The error occur during the first installation in my work laptop. Since my current home desktop is using Win7, I cannot install VB6. Now I have to try install in my old desktop which runs Win XP. I can sucessfully install both VB6, VB6sp6 and Measurement studio. With this old desktop i can read and modify all programs that I developed 10 or more years ago.

That means I can only work at home to develop the software. The problem is that I have to test my software in the lab to connect to the equipment but I cannot debug my software during the testing as the software is not with my work laptop.

I still would like to know why I cannot install in my work laptop which is a DELL E6320 which run Win XP prof V.2002 with SP3. I am given adminstrator access rights to install any software. I complete the installation of VB6 and VB6SP6. I have have the problem in installing the measurement studio,

Is it possible for you to include a screenshot of the error message that you are getting? It would help to narrow down where the error is occuring. Also what version of Measurement Studio are you trying to install?
