problems installing component works

I get the message "The ordinal 6467 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL", then after hitting "OK" I get "Unable to register C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CWUI.OCX"
What could be wrong?
Win2000 pro
visual basic
pentium 3
512meg ram

You might have an older version of the mfc dll installed on your machine. Before installing Componentworks, install the Visual Studio Service Pack 5, this would update all the dll's on your system.

I tried that and it didn't help.
The strange thing is that I installed this in the past with VB and no service packs.
I just re-installed everything, so I re-installed VB, etc... and I was trying to install component works..
I tried it with VB SP4, and now VB SP5... still gives me the same message.
any other ideas?

It sounds like another product that has been installed on your machine installed an old or bad mfc42.dll and it could have possibly overwritten your previous version of mfc42.dll. This article discusses the error in the context of Microsoft Money, but I think that the resolution steps could be helpful in your case as well.
